Striving to Reach the Fullness of Christ

The church in Fier is the result of the gospel preached by Virgil and Jackie Jackson, missionaries in Vlorë for many years. While Vlorë was the home of the Jacksons, they conducted worship assemblies in Fier as well as in Vlorë.

Doug Smith, having established the church in Prizren, Kosova, assisted Virgil for a short period. With Doug's leadership, the church continued to make good progress. Helping Doug for a period was Bujar, his translator from Prizren, Kosova. He taught his own students and preached in Albanian.

Brent Parr, a young man from Marrietta, Oklahoma, followed Doug and worked in Fier for 2 years.

Steve and Ruth Byrne followed Brent Parr. Steve & Ruth served as missionaries in Fier for 3 years from 2006-2009. Good progress came as the result of their serving. Steve worked in many ways so that one day the Church of Christ in Fier might have an Albanian Preacher. Many have prayed that God will bring Albanian people. to serve here in Fier.

The International Bible Institute in Albania
(IBIA) began classes January 23, 2006, and the whole idea of the school was to train men for the Church of Christ throughout Albania to be capable and ready to stand in the gap.

Altin Koci & Eduart Hoxha, students of the School, graduated IBIA and begin work in Fier, the answer of many who prayed for trained preachers who speak the native language.

Where is Fier? Fieri (Albanian: Fier or Fieri) is a city in southwest Albania, in the district and county of the same name. It is located at WikiMiniAtlas40°43′N 19°33′E, and has a population of 82,297 (2005). Fier is 8 km (5 mi) from the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Apollonia. Albania is directly east of Italy.

Are We growing up in the Eyes of the Lord?
Heard this comparison “When we see a child for the first time at 3 months old we say how a cute and adorable the baby is, but if we will see the same baby after 5 years and he is the same size of 3 months old. We sure thing don’t say that he is cute or adorable, but we feel sorry for him that how is not grown up. Imagine the same thing with us in the eyes of the Lord we are born in Christ the question for us is; Are we growing up as we supposed to or are we are getting older but the size is the same. ”

We are saved to help others to be saved. We all are born the same but it’s by our choices that we make what we become. We choose to grow up and take responsibility, or choose to age but not to grow up. God has given us an opportunity to reborn, God has called us to change and grow up.

Benevolence Ministry
As we serve the Lord and share His Gospel we try to come into help to those that are in needs. There are many families that are in need, but we have been in contact with some blind families, also we have been in contact with Autism Center. We are trying to be in help as much as we can, and we are trying to set the example of Christ by our lives.

Children Ministry
Jesus loved the children and he told His disciples Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." It has been a blessing to us because parents of the children has begun trusting us they bring their children to the class and come back to pick them up. We continue to use every opportunity that we can get to have classes with Children for they are busy with the school and private classes that they take. Evangelizing the Lost Along with other services to the community we continue with our daily life as an example of Christ to reach the Lost. Spending time with people sitting and hearing their problems and their difficulties they confront in their lives, it’s very important building redemptive relationships for God.

Albanian Retreat for Local Churches of Christ It was the fourth time that we have been able to meet together. It’s a great opportunity to come together to get encouragement and being refreshed. We got to study from gospel of Mark and the topic was “Follow Me”. Speakers where Wayne SPEER Gospel Preacher from U.S.A. and a former missionary in Tirana church, Albania! John MASSIE Elder and Gospel Preacher at Alamo City Church of Christ in San Antonio, TX. U.S.A! Alfred ZIKE Gospel Preacher at Adriatic Church of Christ, in Beach area of Durres, Albania! Erik QIRJAQI Gospel Preacher at Tirana Church of Christ Tirana, Albania! Shkëlqim KAFEXHIU Gospel Preacher at Durres Church of Christ in Durres, Albania!
